Strict law enforcement sought for benefiting with guidelines: BASIS President
Welcoming the Digital Business Management Guide (SOP), Syed Almas Kabir, President of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), emphasized the importance of implementing the guideline.
This policy is undoubtedly a milestone, he said. But the Competition Commission or the Consumer Rights Council has to be vigilant here. Guides don't just have to be written. If necessary, law enforcement agencies should be involved. If the law is not enforced, there will be no benefit from the guidelines. Copyright law can be an example that exists but is not enforced strictly. Fake Rolex watches are now being sold by SMS like this.
He made the remarks while addressing a press conference on "Digital Commerce Management Guide 2021" jointly organized by e-Cab and the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.
At the same time, Syed Almas Kabir stressed the need for coordination among the concerned agencies including Bangladesh Bank and City Corporation in the implementation of the guidelines.
He said violators of the guidelines would have to have their licenses revoked if necessary. The implementation of the initiative taken by Bangladesh Bank to introduce escrow service needs to be coordinated. Without coordination, many will take the negative opportunity.
Almas Kabir added that the e-commerce business will exceed $ 3 billion in transactions in the next two years. As a result, those who are doing business should be given some freedom. They need to be given the opportunity to use various marketing gimmicks, as long as they do not conflict with the law. So you don't have to swim with your hands and feet tied. In order to comply with the law, they also need to create opportunities for business.
In his speech, the BASIS president also demanded that small entrepreneurs like F-Commerce should not be forced much to discipline those at this moment.
